Abstract

Philanthropy and social investment in Africa stand at a crossroads, where historical legacies, present realities, and future possibilities intersect. This edition of the International Review of Philanthropy and Social Investment presents a collection of scholarly works that explore the evolution, challenges, and opportunities in African philanthropy, highlighting its dynamic and multifaceted nature. As the continent navigates pressing socio -economic and environmental challenges, the role of philanthropy as a driver of systemic change becomes more critical. Through these contributions, the volume calls for a more contextualized, inclusive, and innovative approach to philanthropy, one that reclaims African traditions, aligns with local realities, and embraces new paradigms of giving and social investment.
